Easiest way to add a Subwoofer to 997.1 (2007) with Bose system...?

hi,

I searched and searched and i was not able to find the answer, there is a ton of info on how to replace the PCM with an after market HU and replacing all the speakers but that is not what i want to do.

All i want to do is to add some more base to my sound, can anyone guide me on the easiest way to accomplish this? Where do i get the woofer signal?

Options 1: all i would like to do is to wire a Self powered Subwoofer (Bazooka tube), place behind the the copilot seat and be done with it.

Options 2: Maybe if not too difficult i would like to remove the Bose subwoofer box and replace it with a new box with the same shape with aftermarket woofers and amp.

Thanks

Couple of suggestions:
You could replace the drivers in the Bose box as I did. Good improvement in cleaning up the bass in your system, but it will not really give you "more" bass. I'm not sure you would be happy with the results.
Add a powered sub box as you suggested. Focal even make a flat one that could even go behind the seats. Problems? Signal from the Bose box is fine, but most people would suggest the power source from the Bose box is not adequate to power one of those boxes. So, you'd need to wire power from the frunk all the way back to the rear. Quite a pain.
Add a custom box with a 10" woofer. Best solution, but also the most expensive. Also running separate power. Also, you will have a sub that is not at all match with the stock system. Would be curious if people are happy with the results.

Thank you for the reply,

I am ok wiring the power from the frunk, that's no an issue for me, what I am not really sure is where to get the woofer signal from. my understanding is that the PCM communicate with the Bose Amp using fiber option (MOST) so not sure were can I "tap" the new woofer from.

I think it was Slicky Rick who was able to quickly connect a BassLink. Search his posts or ask him. Personally, until I find time to build a custom enclosure, I am about to install a BassLink.

He ended removing the Basslinkn and going other route, I'm still not sure where to tab the signal for the subwoofer if I want to add aftermarket Amp + Sub

Maybe you could add the subwoofer from a cabriolet in the passenger's side front footwell.

Out of curiosity, what wire colors do you see going to the sub? Do you see a
1. Orange
2. Orange/brown
3. White/yellow

FYI, I am about to temporary install a BassLink next weekend. Perhaps then, I could just assist you.

If you can't wait, here is what I am planning on doing this weekend:
1. Tap into the orange wires for speakers input. Those wires just put out
Less than .3mv
2. Tap into the white wire for remote on
3. You have negative and constant 12v from the same connector but I would run separate ground and positive for the new amp

Proceed at your own risk. You can always wait for me if you wish

Guys see the other post of op. I placed the wiring scheme that goes to the Bose sub there. Cab, it's going to be so easy you just need to make a 1 meter wiring harness that goes from the sub wiring harness to your basslink. I think I also posted a pic of the basslink on my seat wearing seat belts to prevent it from flying around. Easier than you'd think brothers. The real reason I removed it was it did not look good and I have two kids I bring around. But the bass was a lot better.

I had a BassLink on my 911Sc cab so I am familiar with the project.

You should have NOT strapped the unit on the seat.

For aesthetics and stealth, it should be placed behind the seat. I will be removing the feet of the unit for more stealth. It will also be in addition to the factory sub, not a replacement.

I thought about hiding the basslink but the only free space I had was either the rear deck which it won't obviously fit and the rear seat driver's side. Due to my height I couldn't make the sub fit in between front and back seat. Often travel with wife and at least 1 kid tagging along.. Do post pics of your install
