The shifter has a jig the dealer will have it it will show the correct
Alignment , adjustments are made at the back but you have to drop the box me thinks i am keen to hear from others if that is correct but that comes from our local Aston mechanic

Mine has 60K miles and upon replacing my clutch, noticed that my one of my cables were looking bad towards the back where they mount up. So I replaced it. Then 2 weeks later I lost the other cable while driving. The feeling of the shifter going dead was sickening! I was so worried that the trans was gone. Both cables are now new and it shifts so much better than ever before. My other friend checked his after my experience and noticed the exact same thing happening. So it's good to know that around 50k+ they might need some serious attention before you get stranded somewhere.

Not stating this is a concern with cables breaking..But, the only cables I've seen broken are from ppl doing a clutch, they lower the trans before disconnecting the cables from the shifter arms and then the mount bracket, when trans lowers the cables don't get any longer and SNAP!! The end of the cable guide sleeve and/or the groove that slides over the mounting bracket snap, causing a loose cable or cable to flex and not push/push shifter fork arms.
The cables naturally do become misaligned over time and hard shifting, just a realignment of the cables is needed and it's a done deal...After a decade of doing them, the trans doesn't need to be lowered nor does the shifter surround need removing, although after adjustment your arm looks like it's been in a losing battle with a damn cat!!
