Question Help! My 2007 Roadster always thinks it is in reverse?

The red 'R' in the middle of the dash is almost always on, sometimes it blinks. The reverse chime sounds and the reverse lights are on also. This happens whether I am actually in reverse or on the highway in 6th gear. Any ideas on what is wrong and how I can fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Reverse switch sticking, faulty. It's a 3 pedal car correct.

Yes, it is a 3 pedal car. Is the reverse switch easy to access?

This happened on my 2007 V8 Vantage about 4 years into ownership. The problem is discussed on the AMOC forum (search the AMOC forum) and known by Aston. There is a sensor on the transmission that can overheat at high speeds (for me it was sustained speed at or above 80mph). I believe the fix was a spacer inserted to move the sensor further away and a new sensor. Mine was covered under extended warranty but I believe the cost wasn't much.

Thanks!

I assume the reverse switch must be in the gearbox with the shifter.

Reverse switch is screwed in to transmission case at the upper right hand side. Depth of switch engagement needs checked on replacement. It may check ok with new switch. If not it will need increased/decreased adjustment. Not really a DIY job. You can also disconnect the switch to make sure it's the fault. Although you will be unsafe with no reverse light or park-aid if equipped.
