I'm thinking of going to this version as my home made below the air dam version has already got scraped on our wonderful Ontario roads . At least it's a quick removal at car shows etc .
TBH, that looks terrible. Either don't use one, or if you must, use 3M outside double sided foam tape and just stick it to the center of the bumper.
The reason I went with the mount is it only take 30 seconds to remove it. I don't want to be taping and tearing off my license plate all the time. Can't be good for the paint.
Some people opt for getting the ticket, but I try to never give the police a reason to pull me over ;-)
I'm not suggesting you remove it. The off center placement just plain looks bad. Either drive without a plate, or use tape to attach to the center of the car. On a DB9, the tow hook mount works fine because the plate is still centered, but on the Vantage it just looks odd.
All subjective, I guess. I still have my mower axle mount that I bought for my original V8V and I agree with XJRS - the asymmetry offends my eye LOL. I went with the Skene Design mount for my V12VS, very well made product IMO and unobtrusive mounting.
Too bad the new grille on the S doesn't accommodate the clever bracket from the original V12V, which just clamped onto the grille with no holes at all!
The holes are drilled on the underside of the plastic bar that separates the upper and lower grilles, so unless you are lying flat on your back and looking up, you will never see them. There is also double sided tape. The manufacturer recommends you use both, which I did, but I know a couple of guys who have used just the tape and they have had no issues even at highway speeds.
Here's a photo of a front holder I made myself from a bar of stainless steel and some threaded stainless steel adapters available from a hardware supplier. I got all the necessary parts from McMaster-Carr online. The engraving was done by a professional. The adapters screw into pre-existing threaded holes in the grille support. The best thing about it is that it takes less than a minute to install or remove.
