irish07, your points are very valid. This is why I gave the problem to someone else to do. I gave a very basic drawing of what I wanted, to a very reputable Steel Fabricator and Engineering Company, they came up with a design and made it.

Someone said to me, why don't I get a few made and sell them? I explained that I did not want the liability issue. I was very keen to get a full receipt from the fabricator and ensured that the Insurance Company knew of the tow-bar and the carrier, which they do. I'm sure it will be fine, but I am very keen to ensure that I hold no liability.

Having said that, I did not go to some back street garage with a man with a welding torch, the Engineers make bespoke tow-bars for all cars and even make front mounted snowploughs for cars ...... They make towbars for other companies to sell as well, so I do have a high degree of confidence in them.....

Snow tyres are these, some whopping 285/40/19 on the back and some 255/35/19 on the front, they fill the wheel arches nicely and grip to snow and ice like glue .....

DB9 towbar

[QUOTE=MaverickV12;4431086]DB9 ..... snow is coming, no where for skis....

So I thought about this .....

So now I have a ski carrier ......

Hi Macerick. I hope you get to see this question. I am thinking the same and planning purchase in parallel. Who in U.K. fitted towbar ? I have used Watling Engineering in paste but now have ceased trading. Any pointers most helpful especially on what fixing points used and how alutray post 2009 affected fit. A
Is this common across the Pond?]

It seems like a Vacuumrack might be a simpler solution to me, but I do admire the ingenuity! vacuumrack dot com. I once worked in the retail ski industry and these were a popular solution to the problem of 'no roof rails' for a lot sports car owners where I was at the time, I never heard of anyone losing the rack at any rate.

Hi ans bravo for ingenuity. I am in the market for a 2009 DB9 and I need to be able to tow a small boat to justify purchase to the wife. Please share where you managed to get hooked up? Andrew C
