I ordered a Lamy Pico Aston Martin Pen for my 2012 V8VS as the previous owner must have lost his. I can't seem to get it to fit in the holder as it doesn't want to go in all the way. I don't want to force it, but it protrudes out about an inch or so. Any thoughts on why that is happening?

On mine the pen is about 1/4 inch out,but when I push the pen it springs out further to about an inch because the pen tip is out. Is the pen tip out, i.e. In position used for writing?

Unfortunately, mine is out about an inch and very loose even when the pen tip is in. I just don't want to force it so I may have to remove the holder and investigate.
The pen in my V8V doesn't stay in the holder. Anyone know how it is supposed to work. Seems that it should stay put. Ever time you accelerate it come falling out. If anyone knows how to fix it please share.
Just in case you're wondering after 5 years, Gene...
I picked up the AM Lamy Pico pen to put in the pen holder and had the same issue you did. The pen wouldn't seat fully and stuck out about an inch. So I got a flashlight and looked in there.
The problem is that there is the end of another pen stuck in the holder. The section I highlighted below from the original pen is still in the holder, so the new pen can't properly seat itself. I assume this is the same issue some other people are having as well.
Now the question is... Do I have a needle nose pliers thin enough and long enough to pull that sucker out without damaging the holder... (Cue video of pen end letting go and me smacking myself in the forehead...)

Just unscrew that piece from new pen and then thread new pen into piece that is stuck in holder and pull it out. Worked for me.
I feel this has to be one of the most first-class issues I've seen on this board.
Yeah, it's pretty central to the character of the car all right... [SARCASM] "Forget the wonderful V8 howl. If it doesn't have the Lamy pen in the pen holder, it's not worth it." [/SARCASM]
However, I'm one of those guys who likes to have my cars as close to stock as possible, so replacing the pen, first aid kit, manual, tire kit, etc. are all things I'm working on doing over time. I'm just weird that way I guess.
And to be honest, the hole in the dash just doesn't look right without it, so it'll be nice to have the pen back in there.
Luckily, I was able to extract the end using a pair of mini needle-nosed pliers. Trying to thread the body from my new pen onto the old end wasn't working because the threads were screwed up. Probably by someone already having a go at removing it.
I am amazed that, in the 5 years this thread has been active, not one person posted a picture of the pen's location.
For those of you asking, Here:
Also, obligatory first-world problems meme:
I can't say anything about it, though... almost feel that way about the umbrella, owner's manual, tire inflator, battery tender, and crystal key. Hell, the pen is the one thing that wasn't removed and sold off.
Hi, I just got my 2013 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster. I ordered the mission AM Lamy Pico Pen. It came today and I installed it which I guess was the right way because it clicked in and then out. I think did the bonehead move of putting it in the other way with the pen tip facing out and now it is stuck. Anyone know how I can remove it?
