I looked through the frequently asked questions and didn't see a post for a coolant change. As part of my annual service I'm changing out the thermostat with the Jaguar part. I'm almost done with the thermostat change and thinking I should drain the rest of the coolant and fill with new while at it.

I take it from no responses that there isn't anything special required for a coolant drain and refill on this car. I wasn't sure it there were any additional plugs to remove or a specific process to bleed the system.

In my American V8s I usually drain through the rad drain, remove the top rad hose from the thermostat, then fill through the top hose until I see fluid at the thermostat housing. For me this has minimized air bleeding.

For the Aston I will try to drain at the rad then slowly fill through the reservoir as that appears to be the highest point.

Sorry, haven't done that job. Replacing the thermostat is super easy (I did a write-up and vid, easy to find). But I just top-off the coolant when doing it, not a full flush. I should probably do one this year, though...

Have you looked for the process in the workshop manual?

I used your post to do the thermostat yesterday thanks. Was thinking while I'd already drained some of the fluid why not continue on.

Guess I need to go through the process and download the manuals.

OK just found this post so I think I'll just refill with DEX cool for now and see about how to do this properly. Maybe I can use my old vacuum pump I've used for pulling down AC systems to pull a vacuum on the cooling system.
