Clutch slave cylinder
Mine gave up the ghost yesterday. Fluid dumped all over the road. Its been going for a while.
How hard is the clutch slave cylinder to access? Could a home mechanic do this without a hoist?
Thanks in advance

Also if someone could clarify, I thought the clutch slave cylinder was in the bell housing and that one had to drop the transaxle etc but this guy is selling a "clutch slave cylinder" for my year car - is this the actual clutch slave cylinder? It looks like the master cylinder

You looking for a ASM or manual shift slave?
To replaced..it's like doing a clutch. Transaxle out, torque tube out..then you have access to change the slave.
Home mechanic, just need a lift/hoist and transaxle/transmission jack...can't say it will be easy though unless you're comfortable turning wrenches and figuring things out on the fly.
The problem you'll have though is only if it's a ASM, because you'll have to bleed the clutch slave..manual shift is easy by using the pedal, ASM you have to be creative, I have an AMDS..so I've never had to be "creative"

The Shop that did my clutch charged me book labor at 20 hours. I believe it took them 22 hours total with a broken stud and extraction but "only" charged me 20! You cannot change the slave cylinder without removing the torque tube. Torque tube requires removal of transaxle for enough room to slide the drive shaft splines out of the clutch disc.

However, I would strongly recommend investigating your clutch condition and planning on replacing that at the same time, 1. Because if it is reasonably worn it's way smarter just to replace it then & there and 2. If the slave pissed fluid everywhere, it may well have ruined the friction plate.
