Faded clear in carbon light inserts

The clear coat on my carbon fiber tail light inserts seems to have faded making the inserts look hazy. Has anyone else experienced this? Thinking I can wet sand them with 800-1000 grit sand paper and then polish them until the haze is gone. Has anyone tried this?

Also, how would I remove them if I needed to re-clear coat them? Just pry them off with a plastic trim tool? Bare they just held on with double-sided tape?
