Hello Handyman: can you please show me the steps to remove the center console? I am trying to change to the glass switches. Thanks.

Well here is some pictures I took before leaving for work. You need to also remove the metal trim behind the seat to ensure you don't damage your console. The back 2 screws need to be unscrewed completely but the 2 in the cup holder just need to be loosen to allow the console to slide back and lifted. Good luck and keep me posted

[QUOTE=XJRS Owner;4495174]You can't shift the car if there's something (like a coffee cup) in the holder. QUOTE]
I agree with XJRS on this. With the original console in my 2007 Vantage, I tend to hit the coffee cup with my elbow when I shift.

Having said that I was at the dealer yesterday dropping off my car for the dreaded timing cover fix when I noticed a new 6 speed Vantage with the new console installed.
It looks great, but just based on the picture, shifting would be a problem for me with cups in the cup holder. It appears that there is enough room to move the cup holders back towards the parcel shelf. The problem is that it would be difficult to get your cup out while driving.
I would gladly make that comprise just to be able to shift without fear of spilling hot coffee everywhere

Looking again at the picture I posted, the answer might be to make the cup holder assembly slide back towards the parcel shelf (red arrow) and then forward when needed to retrieve something from the cup holder?

Help - Center Console 2009+

Thanks Handyman!! I just finished installing all glass switches on the console. One question though: how to put the screws back on the cupholder? there is a plate under that need to line up in order to screw in...but seems impossible to see and line up to the holes?? Am I missing sth??

Edit: I just re-read your intruction...and I know what to do...

I know what you are talking about I scratch my head on that one for a bit... Just start the 2 screws on the bottom plate before putting the arm rest on the console and slide it into place and finish tightening those after the 2 back screw are done. Hope I am clear enough
