The fuel filler door panel cover is attached to the hinge assembly for the fuel filler via an adhesive.

Does anyone know what type of adhesive is used?

I'm having a new fuel filler panel cover made (carbon fiber), and need to attach it to the hinge assembly prior to installation.

If I were in your shoes, I'd use a bead of black RTV. It will hold well but is removable if needed.

 

If you want it to be permanently attached to the door you can use Urethane structural Adhesive (not sure if I can post a link - sear for Norton SpeedGrip on Amazon). I've used this to bond panels/body work and it's quite strong and permanent as an automotive adhesive.
