Generic Parts?
Okay, just curious...why can't generic cats, mufflers, etc. be used on our cars...or can they? Not that I am putting them on my car, but on my Viper, I used generic after market mufflers for $100 a side (side exhaust) vs. the $1500 vendors wanted to charge...and they worked fine and sounded great. Just curious is all to the Aston...
Thanks,

Not sure what you mean by generic, so I will say this. Companies spend a lot of time doing R&D and they pay their employee's and spend money on different parts trying to find the part that works best. On top of that, AM's are low build cars and so they have to work everything into a small amount of sales, hence the price.
You can go to your local muffler shop or DIY, but it may not look as good or if someting was not done right, you could end up paying more to correct.
Long story short, you can use aftermarket parts (assuming that is what you meant when you said generic) or go with one for sale by a vendor, depends on you and your level of comfort and also a DIYer job might cause some potential buyers to back away, while a vendors product might bring them in (this is just my opinion, so take it at that).
