DB9 -- separating lens from tail light - any info?
Hi guys, I have the usual condensation related failure in one of my clear tail lights. I may have an opportunity to remake the LED boards that usually fail.
Sorry for new thread but I can't find any info on search.
Is it possible to get the lenses off the light housings without destroying them?
I searched and found the 'tail light condensation' thread, but apart from sawing up the assembly, it didn't offer much on getting the lens off.
Does anyone have any pics of the BACK (inside) of the lens off the assembly or any other pics/advice (apart from 'don't bother!) please? Is there more to it than carefully cut seal around the edge and release clips? Does anything come off with the lens?
Thanks, K9

This is the only thread I can recall that remotely touches on it

Thanks mate, I saw that one, but it misses out on the crucial piece of info about how to get the lens off. Mine is most of the way off, but it feels like something is still attached about half way along, so I don't want to force it...

MKZhang posted a process for removing the lens for headlights from the base frame. He said put in cardboard box, then have small opening in the top and use a hairdryer. That amount of heat softens the glue enough to peel the lens off. IF this is the issue there is your fix.
IF not then all taillights are likely the same for the AMs. Red or White, so just see if someone has a pic of one taken apart somewhere and see what might be holding it up. Not sure how to reseal, but I bet if you reverse the process of heating it up, then sticking it back on and letting dry you might be good.
