2018 Vantage Horsepower
The internet is daily speculating on the next Astons (and Lagondas), in particular the Vantage. Originally I heard from an Aston employee that the next Vantage will satisfy the need for more power - a main focus so expect 500HP - Yea! Then a few days ago another post said the Vantage will have 403 HP - Nay!! and the S have 453 HP. So why would Aston have less HP than a standard AMG GT? Is this Mercedes having a say to be non-competitive with their car? And to limit the 'S' to a standard AMG GT? No wonder Mercedes wanted to partner - control the competition! That is IF that press release was true... too many conflicting stories out there. Meanwhile for 1/2 the cost of a Vantage you can get a 650HP Camaro that rides like on rails. I hope Aston does not blow this new opportunity.
Agreed... they lost me as a buyer back in 2006 with a car that only produced 380 hp... I waited and opted for an Audi R8 with 420 hp in 2007. I now have a 2013 AMV8S and with its X-pipe and ECU tune its throwing off 470 hp.... Why would I opt for a 2018 Vantage with anything less than 500hp?
Speculation is speculation.
However, there is no way the next Vantage will have less power than the outgoing one (which currently stands at 420/430, or 440 if you count the GT8).
And I don't believe the Mercedes partnership gives them enough control to limit the power on the Aston engines.

I agree my 430 is plenty in the city - although if I got a sweet deal on 1 2015 V12S with a light colored interior, I'd be swayed.

So with the new Vantage having an AMG engine then a quick trip to RENNtech and it will make massive power. My e63 twin turbo estate wagon has been worked on by them and now has 701hp and 839 tq. It is just crazy fast. When I let my son drive it he just burst out laughing and said this is what an extra 200 hp feels like. He drives a Cobb tuned twin turbo 997 Porsche.
Good points on RENNtech - Sears Imports, the Mercedes dealer here installs RENNtech without destroying the warranty - doubt that will happen with Aston, which is why I don't modify the car as I extend the warranties. But for those that don't care - very good point
