Rear hatch closure

I have a 2014 Vantage coupe.
What is the best technique to close the rear hatch on the Vantage?
Thanks

I always use the leather strap to gently place the hatch closed, then I push down on top of the hatch to firmly close.

Thanks,
That is my procedure as well.
I thought I read that it has the ability to close like an automatic door system.

This is new? I been pulling it down with my free hand hard enuff that it latches .....no issues no dents and no paint damage.

Have I been cocking it up for 5 years?

My 2007 does not have an automatic close option, I push it down with two hands

I just close it and when it's about 4" from latching I give it enough push to latch, without the edge hitting the bumper cover. That's all you're trying to avoid is making contact with the cover, but mine already is dull from the previous owner.

I had never even tried it. Just did. Works a charm, I didn't realize how little you actually had to press on it to latch. So, I will now be closing my hatch this way!

I always bring it down till its about 2" from fully close, then let it drop. It will close with a soft clunk

The original owner of my car was a total idiot. I know this as I met him. But he used his hands and pressed his fingers on the actual lid and used the pressure of pushing on it to close it. He must have had rings or finger nails as well because there are permanent scratches there. Dolt.

I've got a bunch of fingernail scratches on the bumper cover from slipping fingers into the 1/2" crack [all it lifts when released] to lift the hatch. But he was a COO & President of Microsoft so obviously he was an idiot.

^ I hear that's how Microsoft extracts maximum effort from its employees.

I avoid touching the paint on my car at all costs, so I give it enough of a tug to close on its own. As for opening, I, too, reach into the tiny opening when it pops up.
