thanks for the tip. but how do i turn the sat nav off. that's what i can't figure out. i can press the NAV button next to the joy stick, but that doesn't turn it off. do i need to use my hand and manually fold the display back down?

On mine, if you press and hold the NAV button for ~3 seconds, it will turn itself off and fold down; press NAV again to bring it back. As previously noted, it will store the current state when you turn off the ignition.

If you have "NAV" selected (nav button light is on) press the "back" button and it will let you scroll to the power off button on the nav screen.

instead of creating a separate intro thread, i am just going to combine it with this thread to avoid clogging up space.
went out and took some pictures today. added them to the original post.

so i learned today that the Reverse gear plays trick on you.

in the past couple times i noticed if i give it a lot of gas while backing up and hit the brakes, the car has the tendency to want to stall. today in the parking lot at the gym i was in a hurry to pull out of a space because someone wants to pull in, so i gave it quite a bit of gas backing out, and boom, the car stalled for the first time on me. but i noticed that if i just leave the gas pedal untouched, and just let it coast in reverse it actually makes it out smoother.

complicated English girl she is. lol

what are you saying about 1st gear as well. are you saying to use the creep mode everytime when pulling off from standing still? i am not sure that makes sense since creep mode in 1st always takes forever to kick in and i wouldn't want to be the old grandpa holding up the traffic. not to mention every other recommendation i've read said to avoid using creep mode in normal driving. but i do agree that in reverse, letting the ASM's creep do its thing seems to be the smoothest in terms of maneuvering around the parking lot.
