I don’t fault dealers for attempting to maximize their income. I live in the country's most expensive zip code. When I recently needed to replace the clutch in my manual 2007 V8V the local dealer (Aston/McLaren) quoted me $10,935 plus tax for the OEM single plate clutch and an additional $1,000 plus tax for the AMR twin plate and lighter flywheel version. I reckon they have plenty of customers with deep pockets that don’t bat an eye when presented with those estimates. Good for them. I then called another dealer in the state who quoted me $7,100 including tax for the AMR twin plate kit, and when I informed my local dealer of that quote they readily agreed to match it and in doing so kept my future business. They even threw in a free oil and brake fluid service. The moral of my story is don't be afraid to negotiate with your Aston dealer, you might be surprised.

The US needs to do what the UK did. All Aston owners need to band together to force corporate into making their authorized service departments charge the same hours for the same job.
on win hand you think why would Aston do this but on the other hand you are correct as the United States remains their largest volume market! Could your action start here??

Hello guys, I have a new AMR twin plate clutch package which I purchased and stored in the garage with my 06 Vantage. I don't need it, as I can't get it installed before leaving in a few weeks. Let me know if anyone is interested.

How much are you asking for it?

I just got my order from VelocityAP and got a quote for just labor at Orlando AM and they want $4,400 plus tax. Looking for options near the space coast.

Who's ready to start organizing the US movement like they did in the UK to get Corporate to standardize all service times across the complete dealer network?! Hourly rates will be different by location and understandable, but that's a quote of 20 hours of labor at $220 per when the book has it at NINE!!!! Depending on condition, if it's corroded and rusty underneath they have every right to add a couple hours for bolts that break etc, but this is getting insane with a 20 hour quote for a clutch install only.

My AP install was $2000 at Summit AM, I'm sure the rate may be a bit higher now but the time to do the work doesn't change.

Lots of dealers are starting to charge extra just to install non OEM parts... many just refuse.

I know AM Orlando has raised their labor rates a good bit the last couple of years.

Is go back and ask Don Byrd the service advisor is he could do better or ask why he's over the book on labor hours.

They add hours for cleaning the car, alignment check, test drives etc... perhaps these could be negotiated ...

Raising labor rates are to be expected, everything costs more now. Adding double the hours can't be explained. The job is no different at all. The only aftermarket piece is the flywheel that bolts up like any flywheel. Summit charged me nothing extra because it was VAP, although I had Summit do it because it was policy at Kerbeck to not install any aftermarket parts.

I finally got mine back from the garage and labor ended up costing me $6,300 (labor alone) for a Velocity AP Twin Plate Clutch and both shifter cables being replaced. I was charged 25 hours as there was corrosion on the bolts holding the intake manifolds in. It was also done at a local Ferrari garage who did not have a few of the tools (now they do). It was a gut punch seeing the bill, but they were the only ones willing to do the job. The main Aston dealer ignored me after I asked about using aftermarket parts and other shops claiming they worked on our cars also ignored me after seeing how laborious this clutch job is.

I just had mine done and while I don't have the exact amount in front of me and it was mixed in with other work, I believe it was about $5,500 installed with the AMR clutch. I bought the clutch from Nicholas Mee/The Aston Store and had the dealership I'm working with install it. They cut me a deal on the labor due to it going into the car at the time of purchase but was told "you wouldn't want to see the full bill for this"! Sounds like their techs did not enjoy the install. That same dealership just bought another V8 Vantage in need of a clutch out of California. Aston Martin Beverly Hills quoted $9k for the standard clutch installed.

We are $4300 USD, installed price for the manual and $5500 for the ASM. Including the clutch. Sounds like some of you need to start sending us your cars!

For real. With shipping the car to you, this could still be less expensive than some of the prices being talked about here.

Aston clutch parts are the highest I seen them..

Just check Scuderia Car Parts clutch parts are pretty crazy right now. If you need clutch, plate, flywheel, bolts, slave cylinder, exhaust gasket. It’s close to 7k before labor. Flywheel is the killer at $4700. Just for perspective to make the same profit margins on a basic clutch job (no flywheel) as I did in 2018 $3600 (when this thread was started). I now have to charge $4550. The labor amount is mostly unchanged but the parts are higher. So just FYI the prices at 9-10k WITH a flywheel is not that crazy anymore.
