VANTAGE Bluetooth ECM
VANTAGE Bluetooth ECM
Hello everyone,
My new-to-me 2015 Vantage GT was not built with a Bluetooth ECM. I confirmed this with Aston Martin. I have the phone controls on the steering wheel and the buttons on the dash and even the little speaker on the headliner, but no module. Interestingly, my Vantage has cruise control, which was part of the Technology Package (with Bluetooth and satellite radio), but that’s an aside. I really dislike having buttons which don’t do anything and, as such, I’ve been looking around the internet for a reasonably-priced (say less than $500) solution. I’m fine with a DIY installation and kinda figured it’d be as easy as finding a part number, buying the module, and installing it in the passenger footwell area...
Nope.
My first issue is that there appears to be multiple part numbers for the module. There’s pre and post-2008, fine, but I’ve found at least three additional ones (one specified as post-2008, one as post-2011, and one ostensibly from a 2015 vantage) all with different part numbers. My tendency would be to go with the 2015 one (it’s on eBay) but cross-referencing that number doesn’t give any additional results...which is weird.
My second issue is that I have no idea if any wire harnesses would be necessary and, if so, what those part number are or if they’re available any place. I guess it’s safe to say that Aston does a very good job of keeping things nebulous and, in doing so, encouraging owners to have work done at dealerships. If it needs to go that way, I’ll probably just live with my non-functioning buttons.
So if anyone has any information or a way to get more information, it’d be greatly appreciated.
Nate

I would go back and discuss with Aston Martin... get the build sheet and see if it was supposed to be installed or if it was deleted by request or special order...
i would bet that AML would install it for you since the car may likely still be in warranty or if it was left off by mistake

yeah, it’s kind of a mystery as to why my vantage has cruise control but no Bluetooth when it is/was supposed to be a package deal. The email I received from Aston Martin mentioned the bespoke nature of our cars and speculated that there may have been an arrangement between the dealership and the original buyer stipulating the configuration. As to the warranty question, no luck, she’s out of warranty.
Thanks for the response
The email from AM referenced the bespoke nature of our cars and suggested that having cruise control but not the other items on the technology package was likely a specific arrangement made between the buyer and the dealership. I have no idea. It’s out of warranty now and I really have hard time believing that it was simply overlooked.
Regarding the upgrade module, yes, that’s a fine option and the part number is one of the ones I mentioned previously. I’ll contact the nearest dealership (minneapolis) and confirm that all the bits and pieces come with the purchase and that it’s suitable for DIY installation.
Thanks!
