can you turbo or blow an Aston?
Yes, pretty similar. We've been able to see some results on certain components of the package on the 4.7L Race Engines, which are basically the same as the road cars with the exception of forged rods and an increase in compression, and those are making 485+BHP. The forged rods aren't making more power, just adding reliability so it is pretty likely that the 4.7 ends up around 465-470BHP.
Tractability is much improved, probably a more noticeable difference than the peak numbers. A lot of the timing pulls in the mid range that are there for emissions testing cycles are cleaned up, it's hard to explain but the car just feels freed up, pulls more smoothly. The recent post by a 6speeder on our power pack & clutch setup was a pretty good summary.
That said - we are still going to pursue the turbo kit. The one that we originally designed had a bunch of problems. In retrospect, the person we had designing it was not really up to the task, had done stuff on drag cars but didn't understand packaging & efficiency on a road car. Now that we have Chris with us full time, we're going to be re-attacking it in a couple months, with some smaller turbos and a simpler design that should work better.
Our original setup worked, made power even on a basic, basic starting point map, but we were having too many heat management issues and rather than chasing them down the rabbit hole, decided to start again with a blank slate.
I have to say, it did sound absolutely badass hearing those turbos spooling though....
