Actually they did such a good job it’s actually kind of better than before (aside from knowing it had been damaged). They even aligned all the panels and emblems perfectly unlike when the car was new, and everything feels solid. Even the Ceramic Grey paint was matched perfect. Only problem is a rattling glovebox which I’ll have to take back to have fixed. I’m glad I retinted the windows a little darker as well.
It wouldn’t be wise to sell the car at this point and after putting on a hundred miles the past two days it feels just as good as new. If someone offered me a great amount for it maybe I would sell it, but I honestly have more critical things to worry about at the moment and I am enjoying the subtle upgrades especially the rear end with the carbon black tail lamps.
I should be hearing back about the diminished value appraisal and get the ball rolling on recovering some losses...
I'm glad you got it back together, as everyone suggested, enjoy it, it's a beautiful beast
Hope we can get together after all the crazy stuff is all over ( so cal la aston martin drive)
The car looks great and the paint job looks fantastic. How did they get such a great finish? Did the dealer do it or did they send it out. Wow, it sure looks great!
great looking car...I did a diminished value claim on a BMW... get a consultant and have your attorney involved right from the start so they know you're serious... make demands not requests... good luck. I had to do some legwork on mine, (videos from a hotel, etc.) but sounds like yours may be more clear cut.
I’m having issues. The lawyer I had been talking to said to just take the $10,000 from the other party’s insurance instead of suing him. He thinks because the insurance limit is so low ($10k) that the guy is probably poor and could declare bankruptcy if he loses and I lose everything. But the guy drove a 2014 Jaguar XJ and is a writer/producer.
I’m getting an appraisal for diminished value and so far they say it will be about $20k+. I’m not sure how to get a loss of use estimate. But that will be a lot as well.
I really need to find someone who can help me. It’s not right someone can get away from hitting me and leave me with a $10k limit to collect after 15 months. My deductible was $1000 which I also paid out of pocket.
If you get a judgement, whether he can pay or not doesn't mean that funds will land in your account. The 10K on the insurance is a for sure. 20K may never arrive even if found guilty and has the cash on his person at the courthouse.
You should be able to make a claim with you auto insurance, up to your inunsured/underinsured limits. For the loss of use, get a rental quote for a Vantage (which will be $1,200+ per day) and include that with your demand letter. If the diminished value is $20k and the car was in the shop for 30+ days, then your loss of use claim will exceed DV - this is normal and should still be paid out. You are also entitled to loss of use from the date of the accident, until the car repairs started. You have a duty to mitigate your damages/need to make a good faith effor to get an estimate done and the car in the shop.
The insurance company might counter with $600 per day for loss of use, but push back, since you have a written quote at $1,200+ per day. They should pay it out in full. If you provided them a estimate to repair the car and they offered you less money, you would refuse. Don't take a significantly lower amount for loss of use. You do not actually need to rent a car to be reimbursed.

Excuse me, but are you insane? No insurance company will pay $600 a day for loss of use.
If you are not at fault for the damages in California (i.e. a third party hits you) their insurance company will pay you for loss of use. State Farm paid me well over $600 per day (~1,000 per day) and hit the policy limit (of $50k) for a third party that hit my Aston. If their limit is low ($10k in rohnin's case) your insurance company will provide coverage, up to your uninsured/underinsured limit, since a third party was at fault. If you had a E63 AMG that was hit by a third party, it looks like the daily rental rate is $439 per day (in Los Angeles) so you could demand that. Its not insane, that's what happens.
