Squeaky belt?
Squeaky belt?
Hi all,
So I noticed at the weather got cold here I have a very squeaky belt noise going on. It’s very loud on startup but after a bit of driving and warmup it seems to go away. Any idea with what I’m dealing with here? Fan belt? Average cost? Possibly just tighten? Your wealth of knowledge is welcomed! TIA....

Wondering if this is a necessary upgrade or it can wait, despite it being annoying. I had this infamous squeal shortly after I purchased the car at 21k miles, then drove the car hard and the sound went away. It doesn't look like the pulley does any damage to the belt, just causes it to squeal from time to time.
That being said, I'll probably replace it down the road but will hold off if it's not necessary or going to cause the belt to snap.

So did you just spray this directly on the belt? Top and bottom? While running or shut off? Got the 303 in and wanted to hit it soon. Fingers crossed it will work!

I had the squeaky belt issue 2 years ago and found a simple remedy, see at the bottom of my page here: v8v.info

I sprayed it on with the engine running both sides of the belt, a bit hard to to get the bottle in and you got to be careful not to touch moving parts but it was worth the effort.

Dumb Question from a non-Mechanical person
I own a 2009 AM Vantage Roadster, and I am now also getting that "squeak" from my belt.... I saw the replies here regarding "303" and it seems promising.
So here goes the "dumb question"... how do I access the belt? Do I need to be under the car, or can I access it from under the hood?
I dont want to damage anything with the 303 accidentally but DO want to get rid of this annoying Squeak that seems to be getting worse.
Thank you for the help!!

Just open the bonnet and look for the belt in the front of the engine, you cannot miss it it is quite visible. I sprayed mine with the engine idling to get at full length - just be careful wit the moving parts!

Christian... Just an update, the 303 arrived from Amazon, and as you said, I did a few sprays on to the belt and miraculously the squeak and squeal is GONE!! Best $21USD spent EVER.
Thanks my friend!
