I just started experiencing this issue on my 2012 V8V. I daily my car about 1200 miles/month and I currently have 20k miles on it. It tends to skip gears from 2nd-4th and 3rd-5th. Today it went from 4th-6th...I don't know whats going on! It usually happens a couple times/day.

Does it involve a lot of work to go in and check the connections and clean and or replace?

IMO, the problem is consistent with a dirty switch. dirty switches are unpredictable (like the symptoms listed), and it's a long, long way, technically speaking, from a bad key to a double shifting transmission. not only that but it would appear to be a rather simple thing to clean it or replace the paddle mechanism. it's also rather suspicious that adjusting the steering wheel's position affected the problem. to me that would signify it's something physical within the steering wheel. and the paddle mechanism is within the steering wheel.

Ive been having this problem with my 15 V12V, as posted earlier. Car has 4k miles on it. Car went to dealer, they couldnt replicate the gear skipping. I documented the issue in detail and attached these links from others having the problem and it was sent to the factory. Their recommendation was to replace the "shaft sensor" ...800 bucks and a new shaft sensor...still skips gears....
This need to be fixed cuz its annoying as hell when driving the car....hopefully I can get this resolved very soon, if not, car is gone...

will keep all posted

My ‘13 V8V with this issue is currently in the shop for routine maintenance and I asked them to try and fix this - They said they have never encountered this issue, and also can’t replicate it (of course it works while they have it)

not sure why if it’s happening to all of us there is not a documented solution

I believe I may have come up with a simple solution that you guys can try. Believing that this may be a dirty contact touching twice, what I wound up doing was pushing in on the paddle with a good amount of force toward the steering wheel neck while engaging the paddle shift a few times back and fourth. If a speck of debris was disturbing the connection the extra pressure on it may have freed it up. Its been working fine since, but we'll see what happens. Its worth a shot, and took 5 seconds, and it was free.

my understanding of the sport shift (which is limited to what i've read) is that it has a fully automatic mode. if people are NOT having multiple shifts in the fully automatic mode then it is reasonable to assume the problem lies in the paddle shifting mechanism itself.

My V12V only skips a gear in upshift mode. Never In D or downshift.

if so, as noted in my previous reply, i would find it difficult to believe that the source of the problem was not in the paddle shifter itself. and this is what i would do.
1) go to redpants page on removing steering wheel. and remove it.
2) examine the reply at the beginning of the thread that discusses an attempt to clean the paddle shifter connection for info on gaining access to it.
3) if i could not replicate what was outlined in that reply, i would
4) use a multimeter to try to determine which paddle wire or wire's voltage was affected by actuating the paddle in the manor in which it fails. IOW attempt to find the wire or wires that actuated the shifting mechanism itself.
5) attempt to splice my own push button on/off switch in the circuit to duplicate the paddle's affect.
6) use that button to do all shifting in lieu of the paddle in question.
7) evaluate the results to conclusively determine whether or not the paddle was the source of the problem.

i am fully aware that this may not be possible, but i would (if as noted simply cleaning the paddle in question was impracticable for some reason) try it anyway.

Got mine back from the dealership, it was there for other reasons but asked them to look into it, they couldn’t replicate this issue of course.

had a CEL on for a thermostat issue and they said possibly the car was acting differently due to the CEL

drove it yesterday again with no shift issues.

craziness.

I can see a pattern here, the problem is that gearbox is failing and it needs to be fixed/rebuild. Cleaning the paddle shift is not going to help with the problem. I know a shop that can help in NJ it's called GTE Engineering, contact them and get an answer.

Shift issues

I’m having the same issue too.. 2014 V12VS with 20,000 miles.

Have any of the previous posters managed to resolved the problem?
