Reverse Light Constant Flashing/Beeping

I couldn't find another thread with a related or similar issue when searching, but while driving today my V8 Vantage (manual) seems to randomly flash the Reverse Gear light on the dash followed by beeps. I am NOT in reverse and know it does it for that, but to have it whenever I shift into random gears... especially first and second, is a little annoying. I just got this car recently and didn't notice this prior nor did the dealer, so before having someone else check it out, just was curious to see if anyone has any experience with such an issue. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a while, and sometimes it's only when shifting into second, and on one drive it was a bit more constant. The car's new to me, and while I am somewhat familiar with cars in general, I'm only familiar with mostly basic aspects of the Vantage. Thanks!

I suspect you're running into the redline when you see this. The light (without the R) functions as a redline indicator.

I saw that too in the manual, but the thing is I am not running the car that hard... as I'm still getting comfortable with it. It was actually happening when I shifted into gear, acting as if I was shifting into reverse... when I actually was shifting into 1st or 2nd or even 5th. Funny thing is after I made the post, it hasn't happened since in the last 24hrs. So now I'm even more confused.

They do it more when hot, replacement of the switch on the transmission should solve your issue.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty sure its the reverse sensor. It hasn't happened since buying the car (a month now), and haven't been able to forcefully replicate it. If it starts to happen again and frequently I'll def go get this done!

FWIW I was able to replicate by driving at least 2 hours straight - 25% of that was hard driving. It should show up once you run into local streets.

When I got my reverse sensor swapped, the old one would stick almost every other time it was lightly pressed.
