Is the V12 clutch a direct replacement in an 09 V8V?

So I've discovered the clutch slave cylinder (on the 09 V8 Vantage I just bought two weeks ago) is leaking out the bellhousing weep hole and needs to be replaced. It would be a waste to do all the work to replace just the slave cylinder and not do the whole clutch, so I'm sourcing some parts.

So far it seems Scuderia Car Parts is the least expensive place to get them in the US. $2098 for the clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, and bolts (plus tax and shipping).

However, they also have a kit for the V12 Vantage that includes all those parts for $2965. The V12 clutch is a stronger, twin-plate unit, right? Would that be a direct swap, or would I have to do other things to make it fit the V8 Vantage?

If my understanding is correct, you will need to do a little more homework and spend a bit more to get the V12 clutch into your car. VelocityAP has a clutch kit for the Vantage V8, which is based on the V12 clutch. This kit is highly recommended. I know you haven't mentioned it, but you should also install the lightweight clutch (which I believe is part of the kit).

Do a search, because there are many members here that have installed the VelocityAP clutch kit.

The V12 clutch and flywheel are not interchangeable with the V8. As mentioned by @terminal_ac VelocityAP offers a clutch and flywheel replacement kit. Aston Martin also has a twin clutch/lightweight flywheel offering. Both are supposed to have longer life than the stock V8 clutch. The stock clutch has also been upgraded on later cars to address longevity.

I have the AMR clutch and highly recommend it.

do you plan to replace clutch yourself? if so shop around for clutches as mentioned...

if you plan to have dealer or indy do it, check to see if they will install and warrant parts supplied by customer... some will not and clutch install is rather complicated.

FWIW, my Aston dealer charged me $3600 all in for new OEM V8V ASM clutch.

Honestly that's probably what I'll end up doing. I'd love to have the lightweight flywheel and dual plate clutch but I can't afford them at the moment. Next year might be a different story.

NotanM is infamous around these parts
Go with the AMR clutch, best bang for your buck. Your year doesn't require the torque tube to be changed either.

I'd love to but at the moment I'm a little strapped for cash because I just bought the car 3 weeks ago, and the AMR clutch costs twice as much as the standard one.

I just called the nearest Aston dealer to me (Kerbeck Aston Martin in Palmyra, NJ) and asked about a clutch replacement. Using standard parts, not upgraded ones, they quoted me $9000!!

Nope, nope, nope. F*** that. The quote from my local indy shop is MUCH less expensive.

Did you call summit aston martin? I've heard they're much more reasonable than Kerbeck. I've only gone there for an oil change so I don't know personally, but figured I'd mention it.

I hadn't really considered Summit AM because they're much farther away from me but it can't hurt to give them a call.
