SSP Tuning
Hi Thom.... before the current tech was offered..YES, you had to take off the ECU and send to a company for updating and they returned it back....
If I remember correctly even VAP did this type of update. Outside of going to a real tuner that puts your car on a dyno that works on Aston Martins you have few choices.
You can check the vendor list of 6 speed if you want to compare ECU update. VAP has been good to the Aston owners so many just go that way and with the addition of Irish07 who was a prior AM Tech of the year...
many got to know him when they had a problem and posted on the forum which makes VAP even more important to many here.
Who ever you chose it really does not matter as it is your money to spend-- so-relax and enjoy the good parts of this forum. Everyone has been given a smart A** answer here one time or another.
Regards and safe driving

Aldv thanks. I honestly only asked about the one on ebay out of ignorance as well as limited budget for mods. VAP is the way to go. I know that and wasn't questioning that. Irish07 is great. I am totally cool with smart a** responses. I was just taken back since most everything I have seen on this forum has been really helpful and I hit this forum up prior to buying my car just to see how people were on here.
SheriffDep, I agree to disagree on my comment based on , "seems like you've got the wrong car if you're looking to save a few bucks for what you've suggested" but not sweating it. I do appreciate all other parts of your post.
Thanks
Thom

Thom, great glad it helped some. There are ALOT of low posting owners that come on here and other forums (its not a AM related issue) who literally make the purchase of the vehicle and then either it needs repairs soon or upcoming ones and they post questions for really inexpensive parts, mods, or ways to get out of the repair. There was one thread recently that did just this for a clutch and other items. So that is where that came from. But yes, this forum is the best for help and even the rough posters give great information at times to help members out.
Not sure if you considered these mods but they are typical and IMHO needed for the Vantage---
1. Either new BC Forged wheels or spacers to push the OEM wheels out where they should be. 15mm up front and 23mm for the rear I think. Plenty of threads covering this
2. The Tune VAP
3. Exhaust ---- some do 200 cell cats, some do the rear muffler from VAP or other places. Some do both but one or the other typically makes the sound where it should be.
4. Front lips and Rear Diffusers to finish out those ends of the vehicle
5. DBS shifter if yours is a manual
Those are some of the mainstream mods people do.
Show some pics of the car if you haven't on a separate thread. Interested in seeing it
So many that I don't even know whether there's enough to establish a "group buy".
And yea, we need pics of that car.
Also, don't be so soft skinned. Everyone here is trying to help you because we all want to see Aston's that are running properly.
Can I say it again, stick with VAP. I've got 200 cell cats, lightweight flywheel and dual plate clutch, and tune (all from VAP). I do understand you have cost issues. However, sometimes it's simply best to wait until you do have the funds, as opposed to getting substandard products.
Good luck

Seriously, the tune makes this car actually feel like a sports car. As soon as you take a turn and hit the gas for a heel-n-toe, you realize that this is a machine meant for driving enjoyment, not the GT that it was with the AM stock tune. It's amazing that this is all it takes for that transformation.

I bought through Redpants so "Please do NOT use the “Shipping Quote” shipping option at checkout unless specifically instructed to do so in a product description. Using this option will result in a delay in fulfilling your order." on their website is sending them a body part for car part credit. So I shipped them my kidney and got enough store credit for a VAP tuner. duh (Totally joking by the way before someone loses their mind).
Can't wait to get it.
Can't wait to get it.
Hey Thom..you over paid...when I attended Rich's Tech day when James and Lenny from Aston Installations came to the US...
Rich required just a few pints of Blood to cover my installation of front and rear cameras! LOL
Good Luck and safe driving

He didn’t specify a working kidney. So I got the last laugh....
