DB9 Door reflector LED flicker

Hello,

I've tried replacing the light bulbs in the little reflector in the doors with LEDs but the 2 that I have tried (Philips & Amazon canbus verson) work fine when they are on but when the doors are closed, I see them flash for a second every 20-30 seconds. Just wondering what brand LED's those that have swapped the bulbs out are using? All the other led bulbs in my car are Philips and don't have this issue. Thanks!

I have the same issue with my 09 DBS Ever since I replaced the incandescent bulbs with LEDs they flash. But only in the door lights nowhere else... It doesn't bother In fact it looks to me like a faux security arm indication so I rather like it. At any rate it is a curious anomaly and I'm still unaware as to the cause. I just never took the time to figure it out.

It's probably one of the onboard computers testing the bulbs to determine if it should display a fault. The pulse wouldn't be long enough to visibly light up an incandescent, but with an LED you see it flash.

Agree that it is the computer checking if a bulb is present/working since LED's use much less power. Was speaking to superbrightleds and they recommended adding this inline resistor: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...g-fix/191/832/

Has anybody used one on the DB9? Haven't decided yet if I will try that route. These cars can be kind of finicky

Swapped in some LEDs into the door lights of my 2013 Vantage expecting to have the flash, but aren't seeing it. Closed the doors with the ignition on and off and don't see a flash. Don't know if it's because my car is a later year or if for some reason the LED bulbs I used work better. I found some on Ebay that came from UK, but don't aren't anything special.

These are the ones I used:

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll order a set and see if they work on the earlier cars!

I ordered these and finally had a chance to pop them in today but they still flicker. I'm guessing the older models or at least the 2009 DB9 won't accept LEDs in the doors without the flicker. It's ok, I ended up using them in my license plate so they didn't go to waste!

This is a common issue with all older cars that have the regular tungsten bulbs (and a computer). LED operate at lower current than incandescent so that is the reason for the resistor. Had to use a resistor on an older 2002 T-bird to get the LED to quit flashing. Probably same computer

These were mentioned above by zzzamdb9:
https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...g-fix/191/832/

They look like 25 W 25 Ohm resistor
