Velocity AP Disgrace

I ordered and paid for a full power pack headers exhaust package with the Black Friday sales; this is for my Aston Martin Vantage GT in Australia.

Velocity AP said they have one set ready to ship and can get it to me before Christmas or at least before the new year.

So I went ahead and paid in full. Now they are saying it’s made to order and won’t be ready to ship until January 10th.

I thought Canadians are known for their kindness. My workshop has booked in 1week for my car and now it has to be put off indefinitely as we are not confident they will even make their new deadline.

Once the trust is broken how can it be restored? The only reason I ordered with them is because of the forum members both on here and on PistonHeads who had them installed and wrote about it.

Has anyone else here have dodgy dealings with them?

I understand your disappointment

but they do have a good reputation (i've never bought from them but if Redpants thinks they are ok then they are ok with me) so maybe cut them some slack & ask them to refund the freight cost to you rather than publicly bad mouthing them as your first introduction to the forum

Just my thoughts

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with VelocityAP. I dealt with them while I lived in Singapore a couple of years back without any issues. Stuart is an honest man so I'm 100% sure you will get your headers. While it is not correct from them to tell you they had the headers in stock (the reason you ordered them in the first place) you can be assured you will get them. I do agree that the fact these are made to order apparantly should have been clear to you from the get go.

I bought from them several times and always got my parts, like it was mentioned before Stuart is an honest person. Remember that a lot of people purchase parts during their Black Friday including myself I just bought a twin clutch and yes shipping was a little slower than usual but I assume it was because of the amount of parts they sold as they don't only sell Aston Martin stuff. Good luck with your upgrade

I think "Disgrace" may be more than a little harsh. Disappointment for you yes, if they never shipped that would be a disgrace.

I’m not sure what “first posts” have to do with anything...

I have been lurking here for several years and posted here because Velocity was (is) a sponsor if I recalled correctly.

Bad mouthing implies slander ... is it slander if it’s factual?

In any case I didn’t want to have a wall of words initially. My appointed representative at the workshop has not had any luck getting a reply from Velocity for several weeks.... remember this was from end of November / early December ...

Shipping can be delayed but if you were lied to directly and then the communication breaks down in private ... moving it to a public forum in the hopes for a response is inappropriate?

If indeed Stuart wants to do a full refund plus interest I’ll be happy to accept that out come!

People make mistakes it happens ... it’s how they respond to it that matters.

Edit: thanks for those that shared their experience at least it has given me hope cheers

I have known Stu for more than 10 years (commercial relationship for my cars) and I can guarantee you that he is an honest person who does a high quality job.

You say you're upset about a late delivery ... I think when there was Black Friday, it was probably the busiest day of the year on order for everyone, including Velocity AP and orders are surely not easy to make on time.

In short, making a first post to criticize is still curious, especially since we are talking about a delay in delivery, nothing more. The first goal of this forum is to share a passion, not to criticize a company after a first order.

We would all be happy to read a post on the developments of your car as well as photos to share and get to know you better.

Sorry for my bad English, but I had to react.

I am guessing they are running behind. I ordered a tune from Redpants on December 9th and it has yet to ship. I do understand your frustration. From what I am reading, it is 100% worth the wait.

I agree with the response, disgrace is a little harsh for a misquoted shipped date. From my experience Velocity has been great. Hope you get your power pack quickly!

It happens.

A “hey - our bad” may be in order, but this is hardly a scandal.

It’s just my suspicion, but I suspect there was no intentional misleading going on. I suspect an honest misunderstanding. I suspect that nobody deliberately lied to you. I suspect a simple human mistake took place. That’s hardly a disgrace.

i plan to put in an order with Velocity AP for a bucket-load of performance upgrades a month or two from now.

^^^This^^^ I would too.

I get the frustration and let down (from your expectations) but inappropriately airing out the laundry against a vendor (especially as described)...AND doing so in your 2nd post on this site...well...smells.

What's your real point of this post?? To scream from the roof tops and air your grievance? Attempt to hurt their reputation?

It for sure isn't to find out if anyone else has had "dodgy dealings with them".

What a whiner.

I second this sentiment. I recently ordered a twin-plate clutch kit from Velocity during their Black Friday sale, and it hasn't shipped yet because they had a lot of orders and mine is waiting on a part to come in. I emailed them about it and they responded in a reasonable amount of time to explain the delay. I'm not about to jump on the forum and publicly blast them just because I'm impatient. Besides, they did give some significant discounts; I can wait a little longer for the quality parts I know I'll get.
