I am getting ready to put the engine back in the K-Frame (front frame) which means saying good bye to easy access to the powersteering rack. I bought new PS hoses and I am surprised by how loose they are going into the rack. Unlike a BMW which had a copper crush washer and an o-ring, these just have a single o-ring. The Scuderia line drawing doesn't provide much insight, so I was wondering if any of the pros had been in here previously. It's a monuemental task to get back...
I figured it out... I took about 100 photos when I took it apart, but didn't manage to capture the details of how the PS hoses fit. It became obvious after test fitting the engine (eg, when I tried the first time...) that the hoses were in the wrong location, and that the oil filter was blocked. I started over, by mounting up the PS cooler and tracing the hoses back from that. It is a seriously tight fight. I hope the rack lasts for me, because I really don't want to come in and drop it out later!
Tomorrow I will re-mount the engine in the K-Frame!
Some photos for the record.
Really, it will fit! The high pressure hose goes in front of the return line, which mounts to the bottom of the left front "horn".
And, by all means, if this doesn't look like how the PS hoses plumb in your DB9, please let me know!
