Correct, mostly. Using the Aston Martin icon, I didn't hit any roadblocks except for when I was plugged into the wrong port (OBD vs. Body). I was able to pull live data from the modules using the AM icon and the OBD port, but this is a different stream of live data than I could retrieve from the OBD icon. I could get some live data from the E8 and EE modules there while plugged into the OBD port, but not from $07E9.

Truthfully I don't remember if I got more live data on the OBD or Aston icon, and with the car at the shop right now I can't check, but I'd be glad to do it when the car comes back if it helps. I cannot read codes or data from $07E9, which if I read correctly you were suggesting is my trans. I wasn't sure if that was normal, but other members here said they could read from all three modules.

foxwell NT520

i saw this thread and thought it was the closest to what i am looking for. I tried running the update on the Foxwell and it is taking forever, any idea how long it takes? I saw a youtube video and it said 25 min, but mine is over 1 hour and nothing yet.

FWIW:
Good luck dealing with Foxwell. I went back and forth with them for three months, trying to return my scanner. They would typically reply once per week or two. It took a whole lot of "What is the reason for the return?", "How about you keep it and we refund your $20?", "What is the reason for the return?", "What is wrong with the scanner?", "What is the reason for the return?" emails before I finally gave up. I'm stuck with it and there's nothing I can do about it. It works great, if someone needs it. It just turned out to be not what I needed. Eh well. Let's say I won't be buying from them again.

Update the device to solve

I also encountered the same thing before. I bought NT510 from Amazon, Mine is a 2005 DB9, and found that only 2-3 modules can be read. After that, I returned the product and purchased NT530 again. But again, I found that there was no Aston icon. , Only the OBD II icon.

I looked for foxwell's homepage on Google and Facebook for help. A homepage called foxwelltool helped me solve the problem. (Their Facebook homepage often publishes some useful information)
They told me that I must register for a Foxwell account. Then download the software car type-in this case Aston Martin.

And they answered the question of "only read 2-3 modules", the solution is to update the device. The update must be done via a PC instead of a handheld device.

Yep - you need to download the AM dataset. I set mine up, and am able to read all modules I am supposed to on both ports (2007 DB9).

I have the foxwell NT510 and reads most [not sure how many there are...] modules... works great for a $150 gizmo... does clutch surface, misfires, e.t.c. as well as live data...
