Aston Martin Vantage misfires

Last year, I had low restriction cats and a Velocity dual disc clutch installed and then Velocity's tune.
I also put in a new battery. I then fought misfires through the summer. After doing numerous coast downs,
I finally surrendered and called the indy shop. I explained what was going on and that I was getting errors of random misfires and cylinders #3 and #5. He suggested switching coilpacks. When I picked up the car, it had new spark plugs, but no mention of the coils. The cel came on within a couple of miles on the way home.

This winter I changed the oil and filter and put in new genuine AM coilpacks. Took it out for the first time today and after about 5 miles the cel is on and I have the same misfire errors. I need some help!

BTW, the car (2011 Vantage S with SS 2) starts easily and runs smoothly.

Who did the clutch replacement? If your misfire corrections are for the OEM flywheel You need to have the misfire corrections cleared and a relearn of the new flywheel after the clutch replacement as MY 2011 retains the corrections with a battery disconnect. So if you have the incorrect info, it gives a false misfire reading. You say it runs smoothly and if your getting a CEL in 5 min. Of driving its definitely wrong info with new plugs/coils fitted and the same cylinder #s coming back.

J doubleU,

Am I able to clear the corrections, or does it take a shop? I am able to clear cel's.

The shop that did my clutch in Cleveland, is the go-to place for high end Brittish and Italian cars.
This is the first dual plate clutch that he has done, however.

J, I took my car to the Cleveland dealer today. Had the misfires cleared, the transmission software updated (recall), and parts ordered for a recall involving a hose support bracket. Drove the hour or so home with out a cel! Did two coast downs from 70 mph to 30, and will do more as weather permits. I just wanted to thank you again for the tech tip!

When all else fails, read the directions. Hopefully the place that did the clutch can learn as well and you should have some trouble free miles ahead.
JW.

Great post! Having the same issue with the VAP twin plate clutch, flywheel and Tune. Showing Misfire cyl2 & cyl8.

Did multiple coasts down procedure and swapped coil pack still showing same Misfire Cyl2 & Cyl8
I have 2012, I believe the Battery disconnect doesn't clear out and must go back to the dealer.

Will try to schedule an appointment to do this and update the post. If you have any other suggestions or advice, feel free to reply, greatly appreciated!

Aston misfires

J66. I had almost forgotten this thread...or maybe trying to block my memory. As I said, I took the car to the dealer. When he was done, this problem was resolved.

Now to get a high line alarm module!
