V8 Vantage correct cooling fan behaviour
V8 Vantage correct cooling fan behaviour
Hi All,
I have had a couple of recent drives in my, new to me, 2007 4.3 Vantage and I have noticed on a couple of occasions when sitting at traffic lights that the cooling fans are running at full power and causing a vibration. You can hear it and feel a slight vibration through the car.
I suspect that either one of the cooling fans has a faulty bearing or that the fan modulator has failed and the fans are running constantly. In order to help me diagnose the issue it would be really helpful if someone could describe the correct behaviour of the fans.
I'm assuming that they will do a quick test spin on start up and then the modulator will control when they come on and how fast. Is there a different behaviour if the aircon is on or off?
I'm aware that the fan pack itself is the same as a Jaguar part but not sure about the modulator. Once I work out what has gone wrong I'll start part hunting.
Thanks..Ralph

Just another perspective .... Since this fan specification there have been several significant improvements in blade design and electrical motor efficiency / noise.
Although the OEM keeps things in good condition you might find an exact size match for the fan assembly that is more effective in cooling and a better electric motor.
Not unlike the way in which we now have better hood / hatch struts than the OEM and significantly lower cost.
A note of caution learned the hard way ..... Take note of the push or pull of the fan .... Switching the wires for reversed rotation isn't the answer ....
