Vanquish splitter

I was under the impression that all of 2014 and up Vanquish had a gloss finish carbon fiber splitter. I have seen several used cars for sale with a painted splitter. Did they come that way from the factory or were they painted to fix the damage from contact?

There is a 2014 Convertible on BAT. The splitter on it is painted black. The seller got rather indignant when I asked if it was painted. If you look at the pictures of the splitter and the under belly pan you can see scratches on the belly pan. I think it would be hard to scratch the pan without scratching the splitter. Quick fix repair the splitter and paint it. I know that the replacement part is very expensive and this is how most are repaired.

I thought the splitter being painted or not was a factory option?

It was. But you certainly don't see many that are painted.

Vanquish always had exposed carbon fiber for the front splitter, rear diffuser, and side sill. The only way someone could get it body color at the factory would be through Q-personalization

Fred Forlano is infamous around these parts

I'm not aware of any that are painted from the factory. The whole point was for the exposed carbon fiber to show off the fact that the entire body is CF. Some (like mine) came with painted roofs, but the rest (as mentioned above) is all exposed. I've yet to see one that's painted. The 17+S's have some painted accents, but they also have exposed CF.

Settles nothing. You could order your Vanquish a with painted front spoiler on the car configurator at the time of its production. I doubt many were, but just because you haven’t seen one doesn’t meant they don’t exist.

In my opinion the car on BAT has been repaired by painting the splitter. If you look at the pictures the under pan is scratched, but the splitter looks untouched next to it. I suppose it could happen but I doubt it. I always find it interesting that most of the time when you go to buy a car that you know more about it than the salesman trying to sell it to you.

I should have been more clear with my reply - apologies for the miscommunication.

Vanquishes came with clear-coated CF by default. Yes, you could order it painted in any color using the configurator or through Q. In this case, Greg and I were talking about a specific car, posted on BAT, where the seller claims that all Vanquishes came with the front splitter painted from the factory (which is incorrect). Again, apologies for the miscommunication.

That BAT ad you refer to makes no such claim by the seller. If you think he does, I’d like to see a copy of that claim posted here.
