I got mine for under $100k 30 days ago, had a few more miles (around 30k but full warranty). There are deals to be had, but they seem to be selling quickly due to COVID. Who knows if prices stay this low, but I'm glad I picked mine up!

It's pretty much all GTs that depreciate like crazy. Looking at 2017'ish prices as an example: A three year old Bentley Continental is about half price. Same for the MB SL and S coupe. I won't even get started on Jag and BMW, Maserati is even worse, and Range Rover (not a GT, but close enough) resale is amazingly bad. Aston Martin has fared about the same or - when you take into account older models (DB9) and sports cars (Vantage) - slightly better than the other marques.

My impression of GTs in the US is people buy them as status symbols, not because of quality, performance (beyond d**k waving on performance numbers most of their owners will never realize), luxury, and especially not them being fun to drive or interesting. Latest year model is the biggest status symbol, and nobody wants the older ones. Add in the average euro GT car's reputation for poor reliability and high cost of ownership once the warranty is expired, and it only makes it worse.

im amazed at used car pricing right now... I just picked up MB GLE 43AMG for my wife. sticker was over $88K and picked it up in the mid 30's out the door with a year of warranty and low miles...

I do think extended financing is keeping the new and used market artificially high because many buyers shop payment, (lease or purchase)

I'd imagine you'll see several DB11's under 100K in 2021. How low is the bottom on them? Probably 60K if you look at DB9's and Rapide.

I too am kind of hot for DB11 V12 around 100k if I got a good trade in on the Rapide. Plummeting price hurts both the used car on the lot and trade in value. I am more leaning towards a 2nd dedicated sports car instead of taking a hit on the Rapide.

The 2017 BENTLEY continentals are still more than 50%. Aston Martin as far back as the Virage would put significantly more incentives in order to move older cars such as 50K+ etc unlike other manufacturers where you were looking at a year old continental at 10-15% off. They continue to heavily discount the cars as I thought about getting a new DBS Coupe but leasing as with the discount I'd pay less than the projected amount if I bought it. I had everything set up but decided to hope they would do the same for the DBS Volante in a few months. Final agreed upon amount was roughly 0.91% of MSRP per month for 2500/ miles per year 0 down.

I was eyeing a new used vantage with all the options I wanted but it was like 135k

just... no

I can wait, as depreciation on these will be insane just like mine lol

every one in a reasonable price range is a stripped down one with the alcantara interior (NO!) and base stereo, piano black trim everywhere (hell no!) in a boring color

That's the exact spec my dealer ordered their showroom Vantages in. Multiples in black at that.

there was a car in cinnibar orange with sport exhaust, leather interior, carbon fiber trim, premium audio and all the other (which IMO should be standard tech packages) for 135k but it sold or maybe the dealer auctioned it

I know the alcantara interior is the base interior as is the piano black trim, but I can't stand either and why on earth would they make those the base... almost everyone with a brain hates both of those options, and then of course they force dealers to buy a bunch of those types of inventory and wonder why they aren't selling

Are you talking about the cinnibar orange at the Waltham dealer? I am not sure we are talking about the same car, but my local dealer had some kind of red one with a beautiful two tone interior, carbon galore inside, engine, and out that listed at over 200K. I believe it was a customer ordered car and customer went MIA. That one is really a wow car!! Not something a dealer would just order with some many options for the showroom. Very particular.

I assume they make those materials on the base in order to get the up sale? Making dealers stock so many cars was a contentious issue for Stroll. Who wants a car off the lot at that price point? What are the odds that is the exact car you'd want? Stroll intends to keep a high price and less discounts. This could help ease the rate of depreciation on the DB11 and new Vantage in the future.

no it was at AM Dallas, but yes I agree channel stuffing with an exotic marque is a terrible idea

Db11, especially first year also suffers from the Amr cars release. Huge difference in used prices between the two.

I had a 2017 launch edition DB11. The fit and finish was nowhere near as good as the DB9 Rapide or Vantage. On mine the paint was blotchy.
I still have my 2008 V8Vantage, and it is a far better made car than a “new era” Aston Martin will ever be. Every quirky thing and beautiful aroma of the leather is gone. It was fast, rode well, sounded good and drew a crowd at Cars and Coffee. If I buy another Aston it will be one from the previous generation.
