So I recently viewed a thread that I had commented on years ago, titled something along the lines of “best looking wheels on a vantage”.
I remember looking through that thread in the early days when I was trying to find the best looking set possible at the time. Eventually found the ones I was looking for, purchased them new and then installed them. Damn did it fit the bill and not a moment of buyers remorse after dropping soon much into it. The eye candy factor was enough to keep me content day in/day out.
So after selling the car in stock form not long after due to unforeseen circumstances, I listed these wheels which, even at the time, were listed at a competitive price.
What blows me away is that these rims are still sitting in my garage with a cover around them and gathering dust when they could be used for that they were made
So my question is, do people really not want a quality set of wheels for their AM’s anymore? Covid aside, have times really changed that much in a matter of a few years?
People want quality wheels yes. Personally the wheels you are selling are not to my taste. If you were selling P101 I would have flown to Oz to collect them!
101’s are definitely a nice choice. Each to their own I suppose. Though they’d be so much more Loll. At the price they are listed in its condition, it’s beyond a bargain
posted this for feedback as to whether people still want quality wheels. Doesn’t seem like it as much as before
The problem with aftermarket wheels is times change, and trends change along with them. Kinda like fashion. Fly by night Forged wheel brands are a dime a dozen. Most of them are machined in USA, with forgings sourced from overseas. I've been in the industry and can tell you that most of them are not worth the $$$ they charge. There are exceptions of course (HRE, BBS, etc.)
Whereas with OEM, they're timeless - like the cars themselves.
Every has their own taste. I have a set of 20's. I like them for a change and the car totally looks different...a little more aggressive in my opinion. But my favorite are the stock Sports Pack 19's that came with the car. The car goes from looking a little harsh to elegant.
It may also be because you're speaking to an Aston crowd. Aston owners are not known to personalize their cars to the same degree that other communities might, like the GTR community who seem to mod everything. For me, I agree that aftermarket wheels have historically been downgrades to my cars in the past, and for a car like ours that was designed to be so beautiful and exotic even straight from the factory, I get all of the wow factor I need just by leaving mine stock.

Agreed on both points. On most of my other cars in the past, I've gone with a after market wheels, but for whatever reason these cars just seem to look so elegant in their OEM format.
Side note- on most cars, its hard for me to get on board with aftermarket wheels without lowering the car first - just doesn't click.
Just installed along with lowering springs. VS Forged Italian wheels. Car sits so much lower now. Tiny bit of extra camber in the rear for a more aggressive stance. But not crazy ricer camber. Want to add the larger CF chin splitter but already scraping the front on everything.

Well put @bavarianstance
funnily enough the ones I have for sale are HRE’s. Definitely a quality piece of equipment. Absolutely loved it

@AstonCarma - true, the Aston community doesn’t customise as much as others.
