Certainly every bit the equal of the 6 speed in my BMW M3, which is very, very good.

Never driven a sportshift Aston, so I can offer no opinion on it.

I think the Vantage manual is an excellent transmission

my 1991 C2's transmission is nowhere near as nice... thats quite an odd comparison

but its also 30 years old vs 11 years old

I want to have the chance to drive an NA V12 before the world moves on completely and I love the look of the vantage so although I might take the search in a different direction it’s unlikely to be toward a front engined v8.
I am with you as I have driven a 2016 V8V GT and they are indeed stout, but there is something special about the feeling of having the V12V — and the “S” has so much more refinement. I came close in 2022 to buying a 2011 V12V with manual ($129K) but now think the V12VS with Sportshift III is the way to go since they can be bought for $90K while the regular V12 stick is $150K+ and the V12VS with that funky dogleg 7-speed is nearly $200K.

I already have 2 manual gearbox Porsches — so the brute elegance of the V12VS is too irresistible to pass up.
