I thought Aston had a 10 year warranty against corrosion? Shouldn't matter where you bought the car or how many owned it previously.

I would send some pictures of the corrosion to some high up's at AML. Easy enough to find their email addresses.

BMW has a 12 year warranty for corrosion, but if you look up corrosion. Paint bubbles are not in the description. And as I stated earlier the vehicle must be inspected every year for such. Owners book has pages for inspection and dealer stamps. Dead end road.

Since posting this question I have done some additional research. It seems that paint issues are common with certain manufacturers and not with others. Ford, who I am sure you know owned AM for a while, also has a large paint issue with their aluminum panels. I asked my BMW service writer about paint issues and she had only 2 over 10 years, one was fixed outside of warranty and the other was denied since they felt the owner never washed the car and had left bird droppings on the car that ate away the clear coat.

For those that say it is a 8 year old car, it does have a 10 year transferable corrosion perforation warranty. Now you can argue that AM wrote that warranty in such a way that they will never have to make a payment, since a) AM owners are not going to wait for a hole in a steal panel and b) aluminum corrodes differently. But if that was their intention it is just slimy. AM is not standing behind their product.

There are so many paint issues with the cars that you have to wonder why they continue to have paint failures when most others have figured out how to paint cars so it lasts. There is absolutely no excusing paint failure in cars that rarely see winter, are driven often and are usually garaged. The paint on my 19 year old Mini Cooper showed not signs rust or blistering after 100k miles. Mini also replaced the power steering pump after 18 years due to a know defect at no charge. This was 8 years after their legal obligation ended.

For me it is just disappointing to see the reaction from AM customer service. After sending them pictures they quickly said not covered and when asked what they thought was the cause of paint failure on AMs , they email writer wrote " I am not a pain expert, but likely ambient conditions". I am sorry, but I call BS to that.

I have the bubbling on the door handle which is common. I pointed it out at 9.5 years and they agreed to repaint it under warranty. I do have a very good relationship with both dealer and the warranty department.

Habitual Offender, when AM repaired your bubbling paint did they treat it a goodwill gesture or as a warranty repair?

They approved it until the 10 year body and paint warranty, then covid hit and I just haven't had it done. Now it'll probably get done in a whole body repaint.

That is very helpful as it shows they actually do approve some repairs under the 10-year warranty. Covid has interrupted many a plan. Stay safe.

To be fair the door handles have always been a known issue and I believe they've always been covered.

I did find the area around the door handles to be mentioned the most. The corrosion on my door is near the top chrome molding. Other have mentioned the bottom of the door and the hinges.

It's actually on the handle itself, which is a plastic/composite piece. I have it on the bottom of my drivers door also now but that's aluminum corrosion.
