This is only the remote part for the doors/lights/trunk/panic. The metal key needs to be cut and programmed separately for early (metal key) cars. The original post link is no longer in stock, but I bought one (link below) for $64.16 plus shipping or my Rapide a few mponths ago and worked perfectly and now have a working spare. These will work for both the older metal key and the newer Crystal key. For the Crystal key to start the car, you will need a chip programmed to the car (thankfuly the Rapide came with a spare fob and had the chip in it programmed to the car, only the remote for doors/lights/trunk/panic was not working). So this is good for the door remote for both keys.
When buying from this website, did those fobs come with the Fob ID and Seed code so it could be programmed with Thinkdiag? I just bought my 2008 V8 Vantage and it only came with one key and one fob.

Thank you for confirming that. This may be a dumb question but do I need to look into frequencies or is this just guaranteed to work with a U.S. 2008 and pre facelift V8 Vantages?
If I were to get a new blank metal key from one of the following links ang get it cut at a local locksmith, does anyone have a way to program the key? I'm going to program the new Volvo fob in a few days when my thinkdiag gets delivered but I only have one metal key and want a backup. Can the thinkdiag also code the metal key?
Nope, the thinkdiag cannot program the metal key. I have tried. A locksmith with the PATS program for Ford can probably do it, I have not tried it yet as I still need to find someone to cut the Tibbe key.

You can reach out to Triple C (they're in AZ) and they will cut your Tibbe key for $20 + return mail cost.
Unfortunately I have the glass key - bought the car with only one (cracked glass) key - I was lucky to get a new one and programmed for just $1,070 - Ouch!
Hi Prefurbia -- Would you mind re-posting how you were able to get a new Crystal fob for your AM- I am hoping to come into enough cash next month to get a second key.......;-)
TIA, T
I have two fobs with two metal keys. They both appear to be factory. Both fobs will lock/unlock the car. Both keys will lock/unlock the doors. However, only one key will start the car. The maintenance records show that in the past the ECU was replaced. I am guessing that required the key to be reprogrammed and the prior owner did not do so. My local dealer wants $600.00 to reprogram the key.
Any ideas on how to reprogram the key myself to save money?
Quick follow-up: the maintenance records include a repair order where the dealer apparently diagnoses the problem and said: “found second key has come apart and lost it's chip, key needs to be replaced.” It seems highly unlikely that the key lost its chip. Any way for me to check?
Dealer says keys are only sold in pairs and are $3K!
Spawnywhippet—-I suppose I could just buy a replacement key from Phoenix like you. Please explain what you mean about the key programming itself from the vehicle. What was involved/how did it happen?
