In my haste to wait on picking up the Mr12Volt Bluetooth adapter for my 07 V8 Vantage it seems they are not offering them for Aston Martin anymore at all. Does anyone know if the Volvo version works in light of the carryover from Volvo in our navigation and audio (I assume both) systems in the Gaydon cars?
Ah interesting! And now, after looking at the bookmarked URL...I see it is a Volvo kit. But does anyone know which one specifically is required for the 07 V8V?
i installed a mr12volt in my '07 vantage a couple years ago. i bought it from their website. i don't recall whether or not they had a specific AM version or not, but i'm pretty sure it's the same as the volvo unit. there are a few youtube videos on how to hook it up. most are much, much more confusing than they need to be. essentially, it involves turning the first DIP switch, on the mr12volt unit, on and the other three off. there are three plugs on the fiber optic cable supplied, each is unique. unplug the fiber optic plug on the back of the CD player and you'll then have in total three open fiber optic connectors. that are unique and will match the three on the fiber optic cable supplied. connect them all. then supply some 12v dc current to the power plug on the unit. i eventually tapped into the cigarette lighter receptacle.
i think there is only one volvo mr12volt unit and it works for the AM vantage '06 thru '08 at lease. and i think for a few db9's as well.
Thank you! I guess I should ask if you like the thing and what your experience was with it? I am typically pretty nervous about messing with electrical, let alone fiber optic stuff in the car, so this will be an interesting project.
it works fine, sometimes you have to turn the BT off and on again on your phone for it to connect. Just be careful not to kink the fiber optic cable when installing, and find a secure place to mount the module.
Also be super careful when removing the waterfall panel so you don't damage the leather.

My Mr12Volt unit sporadically fails to pass any audio out. I put a switch in the center console power port “cubby” so that I can reset it when that happens. Made is vastly less annoying when it misbehaves.
I think an Aston Installations kit is in my future though.
Not to revive this, but I was looking for the DIP switch combination for the 07 Vantage when I install this Bluetooth adapter. I have it, I just haven't installed it. I went to the Mr12volt site and noticed this. Any ideas?
I asked their customer service department about the compatibility note on their website and received the following reply:
"I'm afraid we have stopped advertising this product as it would work on Aston Martin.
Although the radio is identical with the one on Volvo but somehow the coding used were different, and it is very unstable to be used on an Aston Martin."
Weird. I guess the worst case is I remove it if it doesn't work. Does anyone know the correct DIP switches to engage for it function? I can't seem to find it.
i have found the unit to be a little quirky too. it will sometimes refuse to emit audio even though it appears, according to the little lcd display on my vantage console, that it is connected. under such circumstances my phone will show the bluetooth connection too. BTW, my vantage does NOT have the factory navigation system installed.
i suspect the problem might have to do with my NOT installing the unit using an uninterrupted power supply as specified in the installation instructions. i hooked it up to a power supply the is only supplying power to the unit when the ignition key is turned on. and that is NOT how it was intended to work.
anyway, it's good to know that the marketers of the unit are aware of the fact that there are problems with astons using it and have decided to not advertise as a consequence. ...good for them!!

I wanted to follow up here, Mr 12 Volt now offer a kit that is stated as compatible for the Vantage, DB9, and others. I ordered it today and will start a new post with the results I have.
