Oil pressure in V12 V after hibernation
Oil pressure in V12 V after hibernation
Hi
I wanted to use yesterday a manual Vantage for the first time in few months.
As expected, oil pressure indicator was on, so I followed the recommendation in Bamfodrose video, I believe QOTW 31, but obviously I was doing something wrong because the car was not cranking.
So, second option was to follow the owner’s manual recommendation (throttle down, clutch down and ignition), which seems did work, although cranking was sounding like being interrupted.
A couple of questions in case anybody can help,
1) can this process damage the ignition or any other system?
2) today again, oil pressure indicator was on despite having managed yesterday to turn the indicator off (although I did not drive the car). Is this normal? Question is relevant specially in the context of 1)
3) is there any alternative process?
thanks a lot

Are you saying that the red oil light is on before cranking or after car starts? How is the condition of the battery if it doesn't sound right? It's going to sound different because it is not trying to start. It's not damaging anything as that is how it is designed to work if performed as per the owners book.
Seems to me your process for getting your oil pressure up in the system is correct. The red light will be on for 15 to 30 seconds until pressure is realized. I would not crank the motor over 15 seconds at a time to avoid damage to the starter. Your battery or battery connections may need looked at. I'd start with a new battery if yours is over 3 years old. Matt75321 has the right idea, the Aston needs more road time!
Thanks for the answers. Oil pressure light is on before cranking, then goes off once the procedure is applied, but appears again even after having driven for a while and re starting the engine.
No driving on salty roads, sorry, not with my car Matt…

If the light come on "momentarily" ( I'm talking a couple of seconds ) the next time you start/crank the engine the and immediately goes off once the engine is running.....that sound normal to me! I use the "procedure" as you call it, if my car sits over 3 weeks. That's not often !
