Spring fever: DBS headers install

I’ve been at it slowly most of the winter but now with snow melting away the V12 fever is very much here. I’ll try to share pictures as it goes but feel free to ask questions and for specific pictures. If you see I’m doing something wrong please let me know. This is 100% DIY and in a small garage. These 1st pics are with subframe removed.

There are signs of water pump leak but it does not seems to have leaked recently. Debating to change it or not. Anyone with an opinion?

both OEM manifold/cats off.
OEM cats don’t look too bad, absolutely no “pieces” missing except normal surface erosion (70000km). Very happy.
Got right side new header back in with the new 200 cat, might do left side this weekend.
This DIY is crazy fun….! Until something goes sideways. Touching wood.

Great work tackling the job yourself! What is your plan with the rest of the exhaust after the vap headers and secondary cats? Oem the rest of the way?

That’s the muffler going in, with valves and the remote control for the valve.

This pic might raised some concerns from some people. I tried the classic wrap first but I did not like the results and it might run the header pipes too hot. So I’m trying these blankets to help shield the heat a bit. Will see how the heat looks with a Flir and I might take them off.

Man, I love this! Great job tackling it yourself. These are an absolute nightmare to do...at least on my vantage they were. Seemed easier on the 4.3L for some reason. I tried everything I could to not drop my subframe and eventually ended up dropping my subframe and supporting the engine with 2x4s . Well done post videos of the sound. This will sound amazing on a v12

Here was my path to my pain

O2 sensor wires need some heat shielding and securing but the mid-rear is done. Next is to review everything, get the subframe back in, oil change and a few service catchup. And battery reconnect with associated procedures and finally ECU update for the power pack. The sound clip will eventually show up.
