Passenger Seat Back Flaps Around

Was driving my 2010 V8 Vantage today when I noticed the passenger seat-back wasn't locked in place. It just moved forward and backward when pushed manually—as if the seat back itself was unlocked and hadn't reengaged, I pulled over and tried to lock it back in place. Nothing clicked.

When I hit the passenger seat back adjustor button, I hear the motor working, but the setback itself doesn't move. Almost as if the motor/device isn't connected to the correct lever point in the seat.
The seat bottom works perfectly.

Has anyone else experienced this before? Is there anything I can do? How serviceable are the seats?

Strange that the motor doesn't move it. I'd at least try pulling the emergency release to see if you can activate it to lock, it may only change position when it's locked. It's the strap under the headrest, top of the seat back. Pull it up even and hard a few times and see if you can get the latch to work.

This should do the trick! If not it could be the microswitch internally in the seat back too, hopefully not!

I helped a friend with his Virage when the seatback was in full recline and the motor wouldn't bring the seatback up. It also wouldn't latch back into place if you moved the back up by hand. It just sort of flopped around like it had lost all connection to anything.

We tried moving the seat to get at the bolts in the floor hoping to remove it. Some combination of moving the seatback upright by hand, operating the recline button, and moving the seat forward by the switch magically solved the problem.

It hasn't been a problem since.
