V8V passenger side mirror sticking

Anyone know how to dismantle the side mirrors? Not really wanting to remove the whole thing, but just take the mirror assembly apart and check out the remote mechanism. The retraction mechanism works fine. The glass mirror will pivot inwards and upwards ok, but struggles downwards and outwards. I can get it to move incrementally by pulsing the control joystick, but a continual press causes the mechanism to bind up. I'm guessing maybe it just needs a squirt of silicone. I want to get inside and see what is binding the mechanism.

Wow. Great find. Thanks! Oddly enough, next day after it started sticking it came good and hasn't played up since. However I'll bet it will come back.
My problem wasn't with the folding action, but with the actual mirror glass pan and tilt function, which is deeper still into the mechanism.
