For the last 2 yrs every fill up I simply open the trunk, hold the emergency release down and pull open with my other hand. Pretty easy and quick.

The new part helped with the alignment issues but needless to say removing, prepping, re-adhering and aligning the painted lid is critical to have it function properly and not look like crap.

I used business cards as shims to keep the lid aligned while the adhesive cured. I used 3m automotive panel bond which was too "runny" and not quite high build enough so it took several attempts to get it right.

I would try to find something closer to the OEM adhesive.
