Wood Dash Panel and Door Caps

My wood dash panel (ski slope) and navigation cover need to be refinished. 2011 DB9 Volante. The sun has faded them and they show some cracks. Madera Concepts in California can do the refinishing if you send them the panels. Does anyone know how to remove the wood dash panel and navigation door panel? How difficult is it without damaging them? Does it need to be done by a professional shop? Thanks for the help, Logan

Here's a quick but very incomplete answer: You CAN do the removal and reinstallation job yourself. I removed the panels from my DB9 and had Madera Concepts refinish them. They did a great job and it's held up well over the five+ years since then. Just search this site, PistonHeads, and the other usual sources and you'll find out how to remove the panels.

it's a DIY job. a plastic pry tool can be very useful. i've had mine off four or five times for one reason or another in the past three years.

There is also a factory tool to remove the panel on the waterfall, its a J hook thing. I have the Mercedes variant but I can't seem to figure out where the detent is to pop the panel. It is somewhere in the vents. I got pretty nervous prying and didn't want to damage the leather or the panel and found it to be very tight. I have not yet successfully removed it to install the Mr 12 volt Bluetooth adapter. At some point I'll get back around to trying.Good luck!

i pried it around the edge. it popped up without too much drama. i didn't touch anything around the vents on my 2007 v8 vantage manual. of course mine had no nav unit installed. so can't help with the door issue. i would use a rather wide plastic pry tool as opposed to a narrow one, to distribute the load.
