I'm not thinking about doing this, but I just realized that I have no idea what it costs to paint a car like a DB9 nowadays. I understand that it's a bit like asking "how high is up?" but are we talking $5k, $10k, $15k, $20k? And what do you get with a top quality job that you don't get with, for example, a company like MAACO?
I know what the internet says, but has anyone had a full respray on their Aston? And if so, were you happy a year later?
I would imagine that you would be soaking somewhere in the $10-15K range. I recently had a 993 C2S fully repaint it in the same color to an extremely high standard and it was $15,000 with only minimal body work of removing bumperettes and covering headlight washers.
The amount of work that goes into the prep and paint of a whole car is mind boggling.
Depends. Are you changing the color? If done properly, then it’s an engine, windshield and doors off process.. my guess is you start at $20K for the same color and go up from there.
I am sure you can get it done cheaper, but you get what you pay for.
I can only share what I sent 20 years ago, but we had two (previously black) Custom Porshe 928's. The first one was an already modified Renegade Chevy Powered 1982 we bought for $5K, and got it running OK for another $1K or so. I won a Harley V Rod in a raffle, and sold it with after tax income of $12K. With that, we took $5K of it and had a guy with a small garage respray the car in Ferrari Fly Yellow which actually held up over the years, but not exactly factory quality, The other $7K replaced the old Chevy engine with a supercharged Jeff Cheney built 600HP, 600Trq (Dyno'd) 383 Chevy motor. That car won peoples choice at Car Craft Summer Nationals back then and was featured in Car Craft Magazine. I saw my son street race a new modified Turbo Porsche and he did not give an inch to that car and we had less than $20K invested and a 3 speed automatic! My other 928 was a Renegade 383 Stroker with fuel injection, using a 1987 S4. I had Vescio Customizing revamp the body and painted the car BMW Mini Orange, and that was more show car quality (better than factory), Bo Vescio's work is amazing (he's installing my V12 RS hood and painting it to match my Midnight Blue next week). Bo also paints all of the custom engine covers we sell (customcre8ions.com). I would guess he'd be on the high side of costs today, but it would be flawless. It depends on what your goal is. My 2011 V8 Vantage previous owners took the car through washes - was badly scratched head to toe, and after paint correction and touch-up of too many to count blemishes, is now somewhat ok with many paint chips in the front, hood (to be replaced), and fenders which Bo will respray soon. After the paint settles I'll have a full front Xpel or 3M protection). The point is, I had a 'mental' limit on spending on the car which I've somewhat exceeded - without a complete respray it's never going to be perfect, but spending $20K+ on a 2011 V8 Vantage is not smart. If it was a V12 Vantage I'd respray the entire car from the best possible shop. Hope this is of some help. My collection before the recession liquidated it.
I would plan for $40k if you want paint quality that is commensurate to what the cars shipped with.
Excuse me, but pure BS. As long as the color stays the same and there is no bodywork, you should get it repainted to a very high standard for $15k or less. Aston Martin paint quality is not magic.

“Very high standard” and “as good as factory” are not the same thing.
The best paint job is the one that leaves the factory. Repainting a car means is a balance of cost vs compromise. If you want to do it without any compromise and end up with a result that is as good as what leaves the factory booth, prepare to spend, as it is nearly impossible. How much does it cost to professionally disassemble the car and remove all of the glass to do a proper job? How much does it cost in parts to reassemble with new seals and components which don’t make sense to reassemble with? Do you have any idea what the cost of top of the line paint and clear runs today?
I’ll find a dozen flaws in the “high standard, $15k paint job” in one minute. You want a job that is as good as a new one, budget $40k. I have seen many $15k paint jobs, they have all been trash with a 5 year lifespan
at best.
It’s not the paint, it’s the preparation. A properly done same color paint job should still require removal of the bumpers, door handles , trunk locks, roof antennas, roof rails, exterior trim etc. In addition the windshield and rear glass might have to be removed because with flush mounted glass you just cannot sand and prepare the area between the glass and body. Invariably the new paint flaks off in those areas.
Laying on the paint and clearing it is the easy part.
20 grand minimum. I get paint jobs on my stuff all the time. You get what you pay for. Not to mention the cost of materials is and has been thru the roof

last time I had full paint job was on my restomod 70 Chevelle, that was back in 2005 and that was over 15k, so go figure... but i'm in Los Angeles, prices are going up every second......
