Vantage V8 Seats
Hey everyone, I hope you all had great holidays with your beloved ones...
So i took the original seats out and got them redone in terms of padding and new leather and so on but I don’t really like the way they feel, I could and I wouldn’t mind going more racing or carbon with less features however the question is how to get rid of the airbags lights that will come out.
My second question where do you think i could find racing yet luxurious seats something similar to what Singer would put in the 993s they are doing or something nice like the the ones that comes in the Ferrari F430 Scuderia.
Thanks a lot guys

Might be harder than you think. Seats are going to be tied into the SRS system/airbags, so you are going to have to find a compatible seat that fits the car (rails etc), can be made to work with the chassis computer (code out of computer if seats not SRS compatible), look appropriate and then are actually better than what’s in there. And prepare to spend tons of $$$.
Your very best option is going to be finding a period AM seat that you like, from a performance model etc.
But be prepared to spend maybe to accomplish this. Last time I checked, new Porsche GT3 seats (basically what you are describing) we’re $30,000 a pair, not including installation etc.
You could install some Recaros etc for less, but you’re not going to have SRS and they probably won’t fit well.

Likely you could code the seats out of the chassis configuration with the right software (AMDS?), you might have a hard time finding someone willing to do this as I personally wouldn’t want to take on liability of disabling someone’s airbags.
But my guess is that it’s just a matter of fooling the computer into believing that the factory seats are installed. Look at the wiring diagram and do some research to see what period SRS systems use for signal—it may be a matter of bridging some terminals and providing continuity. You might also be able to just get a couple Ford occupancy sensor seat-mats, roll them up, plug them in and zip tie them under the seats? I doubt the parts are AM.

Recaro makes seats with airbags, but as they are steel frame and adjustable back, they're not particularly light and having taken apart the Lancer Evo Recaro seats before, I'm skeptical of their durability (the Evo seats have a very weak plastic shell). I haven't done enough research to know if retrofitting an airbag into a bucket seat is remotely sensible.
