I'd be weary of any electronics for $100. I don't see how it would control the climate control system, as that (I believe) isn't linked though CAN control. But if you want to be the guinea pig, let us know.

 

A number of years ago I ordered something like that for my wife's Prius. It's ok but quite clunky, and the audio quality is weaker than the original part. I certainly expect that things have improved since then, but I personally wouldn't count on slick performance and sharp graphics.

 

i'd sooner buy an engagement ring at a pawn shop, but, ya, i'd be interested in a review. wondering about how it connects (not my only wonder) to the internet seeing as how most of the early models didn't have any access to it.

 

Well....the "before" pictures showing the stock setup definitely look the best.

 

I was quite intrigued and interested by this (as I have android head units in some of my other cars) but;

The physical quality looks awful

I'm not convinced the climate controls would work (particularly as it shows dual temperature zones) and then you would be stuck.

 

Last year I bought a universal 2DIN cheap Audio + GPS etc unit which appears to have the same GUI as this advertisement: it did work but the audio output quality was shocking.... I took it out after a day and spend money on a decent Kenwood DNX unit, nearly 10 times the price but top in terms of all functions.

You get what you pay for.

I do see, while searching on AliExpress, also similar units priced between 1200 and 1500.... They will have Carplay and the likes but I suspect the same crappy audio quality..

 

Some folks on another BMW forum I frequent have upgraded older infotainment systems with something similar from Ali... they were in the $600 to $1400 range and used P&P connectors and harnesses to use factory amps and some MOST fiber connections...

I generally like the old school analog nature of my Aston dash and interior

 

I am pro Aliexpress and I think you can probably easily improve the audio quality, but...Aston Martins are as much stylish accessory as they are car, do you really want that thing in the center console?
