Painted Center Console

My factory center console is really scratched up, and it's time to look at replacing it.

What is the cheapest place to buy a painted center console? and how do they hold up in terms of durability?

I know Suncoast sells them. Any other suggestions?

Why not have it painted or plastic-dipped?

Bumper plugs link . $625 for the "rear center console", a funny name for it. I guess Porsche calls the stereo surround the "front center console". Then its another $129 if you want the rear cubby and $129 if you want the area in front of the shifter.

Kinda expensive but people say they are real nice. Looks like they put some time into it.

Well, try going to a good body shop and ask tthem. I had mine done this way and am very pleased. Cost: 200 bucks including tip. Turn around time: 1 day.

I read where someone just removed all the soft paint and said it looked OK. I replaced mine with the stock leather console - not cheap - but, damn, it looks proper!

I'd get my old one done by bumper plugs for variety if it wasn't such a chore to remove / install - done it twice now and really don't want to do it again.

Thanks for the responses. Bumperplugs was the other one I remember hearing about.

I didn't realize it is something a regular old body shop could do. How difficult is it to remove the center console?

Look on the Macarbon website - http://www.macarbon.com/index.php?op...mid=94&lang=en

That will give you a pretty good idea. Taking apart the storage area cover is a pain.

I used BumperPlugs for mine. They did a great job.
