has anyone tried to swap the center console between 2009-2014 cars? Does it need any AMDS programming? See in pic what I’m trying to swap. There seems like 2 modules that can hold some car specific programming. One is dealing with the buttons and has two connectors with lots of pins and the other module (display) has one connector with ~10pins and one connector with 2 orange optical fibres. Can all that be swapped without reprogramming?
Yes, quite aware of the science fiction aspect.
Do you know for certain it won’t work and if that applies to both modules. I assume the portion holding the buttons does not have to swap.
The upper module is Infotainment so it may be different with options, like Sirius fitted or not. 2014 has Garmin navigation so that may or may not work with the Volvo system in 2011. Plug the newer one in and see what happens, doubt you could hurt anything. Make sure to have the battery disconnected during module switching.
Move your modules over. It's not that hard to do. I actually stripped my console down to laminate it with carbon fiber, which required me to remove everything. I know you are trying to avoid this path but this is not that hard to do.
