Center console - why not 928?

So often the center console is referred to as Panamera. Sometimes Carrera GT.

Why is the 928 never mentioned? Seems to me the true origin:

It is how all the buttons are laid out on the console too.

The new Boxterhas it too - maybe Acosta saving move by Porsche - recycle parts across multiple models. Is this common for Porsche - I am reasonably new to ownership? I think is one factor that killed GM.

The 3rd pic is a Carrera GT, the 4th pic is a Panamera. Those seats are standard on the Carrera GT.

There was a similar console design in the NSX and 300zx (Z32) which came out around the same time. I owned a 300zx as my first car and really liked the feeling of the interior. I never really understood the hate for the new style on the 911 other than from a purist standpoint.

The purist wants the stick to go all the way to the floor, with a **** next to it to get heat and a lever under the dash to turn the reserve fuel on.

Lol. Luckily those are still available.

The more I look at that 928, the more similarities I see.
